Dog Sitting

We have the pleasure of watching Toby for a week. We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to see how we would all get along with a dog. So far things have gone too well. The problem that I see now is the fact that Toby isn't normal. He is so well behaved that it is a little frightening to me.
Charlie doesn't seem to really care about him. Jane follows him around all day. Moe spent the first day screaming and running any time he walked into her direction but now she follows him around trying to get in some good touches.

Toby is mild. I have yet to see him break into a run. He has barked a total of four times and that would be a single bark when he heard the doorbell. He has given a warning growl to Jane a couple of times but I can hardly blame him. She smothers him and pets him and rolls on him and plays with his feet. The other really strange thing that he does involves staying in the yard. We don't have a fence and we have neighbors with dogs. When he needs to do his business he just sits by our back door, takes care of a few things in our yard and then returns. I find all of these good manners a little strange. Needless to say when his owner returns we just might not answer the door.

In this photo Jane is "fixing" Mike's hair and "looking for ticks".

That dog looks so big next to your kids. It's a good thing he is mild mannered. Our new puppy is not like that at all. She jumps and nips at people and really anything she can get her mouth on. I can't wait until she mellows out a bit.

We've had friends that get their dogs from the pound when they are older and more sedate. That is probably a smart thing to do if you knew they were good with kids. Trouble is puppies are just so cute! Well mannered dogs are few and far between. How did you luck out watching this nice dog?
