Potty Talk

Here's the note that I put on the outside of the garage door that leads into our house.
I figured Mike deserved a warning.
Let's talk about how my day has gone. Bernie was whaling bright and early as I was taking a shower. I could hear her but just kept thinking, she can hold it a few more minutes. That turned out to be a bad decision. When I made it to her crate I was too late. She was covered in all of it. So I carried her outside and tied her up while I cleaned out her crate. Yes, all my fault.
The girls woke up and I gave them breakfast. Charlie happened to sleep in today (which never happens). So he managed to soak himself and his bed. I got him in the shower cleaned off his bed and went downstairs to push the laundry through. Finally I made it to the dog and managed to get her bath going.
Jane's girlfriend came over to play and they were having so much fun that Jane didn't want to take the time to go and use the potty so she wet herself. Two different times through two different outfits. Bernie escaped to the front dining room and I heard Jane say "Mom, Bernie just pooped." As I head that direction I hear Jane..."Eewww, Mom!! Bernie is eating her poop!" Totally gross, all of it, every bit.
Maggie and I have the runs.
This all happened before lunch time.
I love good days.

Crazy Week

I haven't thought about the blog much this week. There has just been too much going on. Here's my run down.
  • I've decided that I would like to change the color of my kitchen and I started by painting a green swatch on one wall.
  • The swatch became a darker shade of green the next day.
  • Mike got some crazy virus that was weakening his muscles. Last Sunday I had to button up his shirt for him, fasten the pants, tie the tie. Then he couldn't even drive the car to make it to his meetings. He is now on steroids and improving.
  • Hosted playgroup at our house.
  • Started the "learn to read in 100 easy lessons" book. Charlie loves it and I'm not sure that I'm quite ready for the dedication yet.
  • Watched others children twice this week.
  • Made it to Book club ( I almost never read the book, I just enjoy the evening out)
  • Painted the children's play area downstairs. Pretty cute if I do say so myself.
  • The kitchen now has two different swatches of yellow. I still don't think I have it yet.
  • prepared my RS lesson
  • Enjoyed General RS Meeting.

I really didn't think about the blog once. I'll try to do better this week.

Check Me Out Baby

Okay honestly, I love these pictures. They totally make me laugh and this whole experience was all of seven hours ago.
Story: Being a sweet loving mother, I was blowing up balloons for my kids and friends to play with. After blowing up four balloons my mouth started to hurt and I felt like I had a canker sore. Then my eye started to itch and I just kept scratching and scratching.
My girlfriend Sumer told me to stop scratching and go and wash my hands. I didn't see what the big deal was but she was the one staring at my face. I guess maybe I am allergic to latex. I've never really had an allergic reaction before but it was kind of fun. I couldn't stop staring at myself. ( I know you're thinking "what's new?" ) Doesn't it totally remind you of the movie Hitch?

Oh and YES, I will be counting all three of these pictures toward my yearly goal.
Count em 8,9 &10-52

Still Standing

  • Spent some time taking care of two sweet brothers.
  • Each day a different one of my children have gotten sick and none of them have kicked it yet.
  • Mike left for a much deserved guy trip.

All of these things made for a non accomplishing week, but yet, I have been so busy. My children have green goop seeping from their eyes and noses. Jane's been treated for an ear infection. Charlie had to get a chest x-ray to see if he had pneumonia. (He's in the clear.) Maggie's crib has been jimmy rigged to give her an incline and keep her from rolling. We've purchased two extra humidifiers. We've spent a lot of time in front of the t.v., lying on the couch, reading books and doing puzzles.

I'm working on little sleep but I'm really feeling quite good. Mike gave each of my children a blessing before leaving and then I politely said, "uh, I think I'm going to need one too". I 'm quite certain that's why I'm doing so well.

I'm grateful for the Priesthood and the power it has to bless lives.

Hope for the New Year

I’ve been thinking a lot about the different ways that I wanted to improve myself this next year. This has been a couple of months in the making and still it has been hard for me to nail something down. Most of you fellow bloggers have provided me with good examples. So many of you have had a "higher focus" that I felt that this year I should make a real effort to be a better me. So it’s simple. I am going to follow the wise words of Dieter F. Uchtdorf and "Lift Where You Stand". My life is at a place where I often feel that I am consumed with being a mother of little children. That is just where I am now. So I will not try to do something big and miraculous that I cannot achieve. Instead, I’m capable of doing small things in many areas...so here is a bit of what I believe I can focus on this year;

supporting my husband
being a more compassionate wife
having more patience with my children
listening to the spirit and my intuition
being a better neighbor
helping other mothers who feel overwhelmed

I’m just trying to do and be a little better this year. I am hoping that I’ll be able to keep my focus and really just do what I can where I am. Right here in this town and in this stage of my life.
