A Big Sneaky Lion
There is a Lion in our home. He makes messes. He sneaks things. He chases Jane. He bites Jane. He is always watching. I haven't personally seen him but I hear about him several times a day. He's been around for over a month now. Jane sees him all of the time. I don't know how he got in. I've tried to get him to leave but he doesn't listen to me. Aren't children supposed to have imaginary friends? This Lion isn't her friend. Any suggestions?

Hmmm. That is a hard one. I've heard of some parents using "monster spray" (colored water in a spray bottle) to get rid of scary monsters. Would "lion spray" convince cute little Janie? Poor girl! That does not sound fun!
When Taylor had scary imaginary creatures around we made up our own imaginary friends that would protect her. If she was scared to go somewhere she would take along one of these protectors to keep the scary things away. Most of the time it worked. She still has some of these imaginary friends. Pete the Dragon is here to stay.
I say get her a Daniel Boone rifle and a Davey Crocket hat and help her hunt the thing down! The skin would look lovely on your family room wall.
Okay, Deb's comment just clarified so much of why my husband is the way he is. She blames Dave but it is in her too :) Ha,ha!

We did what the Killpack's did. Poor little girl! I love the idea of going on a Lion hunt, too! With Monster spray and your own team of imaginary good friends.
I think it is her inner Borah pride coming out. Go Lions! Have Mike beat the lion up. That is what Sam does to the many montsers Kennedy sees in our house.
Brent thinks you should go on a Lion Hunt. You could wear Safari hats, and chase him down!
"Goin' on a Lion Hunt, what will I find?" (You know that song right?!)
Maybe she needs a stuffed animal that is a elephant, and you can tell her that since it is bigger than a lion, if he comes around again the elephant will stomp on him!
Katelyn keeps saying that Santa hurt her and also the Doctor. If she gets an owie, she blames it on one of them. That's pretty funny. I love this age.
Are you sure it is not Charlie? And she is calling him a lion... I like the lion hunt idea, but being a Borah lion, I say don't kill him just take him to the zoo or something.... Why am I assuming the lion is male? Hmmm.

Averie sees a dragon all of the time and it first it was a scary dragon. (Why a dragon, I have no idea.) Anyway, I started to say stuff like "oh I see it too! It's a funny dragon. I like it, it's a nice dragon." And when it was bothering her we would say, "go away you silly dragon, Averie can't play with you right now." Now she calls it a funny, or silly dragon and we laugh at it. I also pretend that it's in the palm of my hand and I flick it away. She thinks that is so funny. I think now she thinks she's bigger than it, and it's funny to her now. I don't know if what I did helped her or if she thinks I'm nuts now. Anyway, that's how we took care of the scary dragon. Hope that helps. Oh, I also described what it looked like to me. So I said it was a little pink dragon with sparkles and a smiley nice face. Maybe that changed her view of it, maybe not.
I also want to mention that once the dragon became our friend that we play with sometimes, she has played with it and seen it a lot less. Maybe she's just over it.
